Almost Heaven

Greetings from West Virginia! I've been enjoying a relaxing week in the mountains with my family. It's a different kind of relaxing: I haven't been sitting around doing nothing, which is how I normally define a vacation. I have done some "resting" but I've also helped with my Mom's dogs and played with most cute niece and spent quite a bit of time just talking with my mom

This is my first visit to the farm since my mom and her husband bought it in the summer. The 80 acres is off of the same road on which I grew up. The property includes fields; the 100-year old farmhouse with a more recent addition; barns and other farm structures, woods, and a large creek. This place appeals to me; it is pure and serene and quiet. So quiet.

I've posted pictures below. Enjoy!

My Computer Gave me a Virus

First it got the virus, and then I got the virus. And then we were both sick for a week.

All better now, however, to reveal my new favorite application: RocketDock. I've been a fan of the streamline look of the Mac desktop for a while, even though I'm probably a Windows lifer (got to use what your business gives you, anyway). I hate desktop clutter and I think that the scroll bar of icons to access programs and tools is nothing short of genius. Enter RocketDock. This FREE (unbelievable) program mimics the Mac desktop. You can change your icons, add new tools and programs to your bar, resize the bar, move it, etc. with ease.

I've included a picture to show you how mine looks. Life is good.

On Cleaning One's Office, Twice

I was so happy with my desk. My drawers were perfectly organized. A place for everything, and everything in it's place. A stapler, rubber bands, a few binder clips, and enough post-its to last a year (this is not an exaggeration, as I've attended enough conferences to fill up and then some, and I wasn't even being grubby).

Enter this morning. Actually, enter Wednesday, when hubby brought lunch to work, including an extra Pepsi for later. Enter Wednesday afternoon, when Internet on computer crashed from a virus rendering me useless in my office. Enter Pepsi can sitting in office desk.

Enter this morning(now), me jerking open drawer to stuff keys in the drawer so that IT guy can get into my desk to work on my computer (thank you, Gerald). Something in the drawer (my prime suspect is my staple remover) punctured the can. Except, I didn't know it, because I just shut the drawer quickly.

Turns out that Pepsi and paper don't mix so well. Goodbye, year's supply of post-it's. Hello, mound of wet paper towels and napkins to get rid of the sticky sugars all over my lovely stapler and scissors and rubber bands.

May the week be over, now?
