Rain, Rain, Go Away

Well, nearly 4.5 hours later, I arrived in Rockford none the worse for wear, despite trying traffic and even more trying rain. While the hurricanes are taking their toll on the southern regions, the Midwest is quickly becoming a giant flood zone. The picture is of a creek in Houston County, where the floods are causing most of the damages here. If you are interested in helping out folks displaced by the floods, please visit the Red Cross MN website.

I had little complications here (except nearly falling asleep), despite the constant drizzle. What annoyed me most were the stupid drivers (not stupid people; I expect many of them were intelligent, save their driving skills - although I expect many of them say the same for me).

As an aside, I'm driving a Ford Focus this trip. The car handles well and I like the position of the arm rest (I don't feel like I'm leaning as I'm resting). The mileage is not nearly as good, though, as the Toyota Camry that I drove last week. I also feel that it had a bit more leg room. I'll consider all of these trips as opportunities to test drive my future car (although, I love my Vibe, and don't need another car for several years, I hope).

I know what you mean about the Camry - I'm driving one right now while I boogie through Minnesota this week.

Hope your family is safe after this nasty weather.

Cheers,

Mark.
