A Vacation Day... Minus the Vacation

So I took the day off.. well, kind of. My sister had to be at her continuing education conference at 7:30 am (darn those perky massage therapists), so she asked me to set my alarm for 6:00 am (time to put a clock in the guest room). The baby was also bouncy at that time, so we played, and napped, and played, and napped until around 2pm. At that point, it was time to get out of the house.

My sister, niece and I elected to attend Woodbury Days, a charming little community gathering. I don't think that one could describe it as a fair or festival - they offered a few kiddie rides and games (that cost far too much), but most of the displays were local businesses and independent showmen peddling their wares. It was actually not bad for my sister - dragging around a cute 15-month-old sure helps you rake in the cheap toy booty.

Following this adventure, we headed to the Radisson Hotel to pick up my middle sister, and then we were off to the Mall of America. I will admit that on my first visit to the Twin Cities, I was impressed with the mother of all shopping meccas. Now, though, I'm just happy to get out of there without my feet hurting. After all, one must walk at least 3 miles to get to the common stores (not to mention walk through some of the uncommon stores). I was most pleased to spend a little bit of time in one of my very favorite stores, The Afternoon.

Now, I'm a little sleepy and my heels hurt. I'm also a tad cranky that I have to wake up early again tomorrow to make sure that my sister makes it to her conference on time. Oh well, Sunday we sleep in.
